Russian-made Orion drones will be able to work through foreign spacecraft. Sergey Bogatikov, CEO of Kronstadt JSC, told about this during the Dubai Airshow 2021 International Airshow, TASS reports.
Bogatikov stressed that the export versions of Orion drones can work not only with Russian, but also with foreign satellites.
The representative of the company added that the area of use of drones will expand in the coming years due to the launch of additional spacecraft. Russian satellites in a highly elliptical orbit will provide coverage of the circumpolar regions and northern latitudes.
The CEO of Kronstadt stressed that the satellite communication system was tested with the help of several Roscosmos devices. During the tests, the satellite allowed the drone to establish communication with ground services.
In October, Bogatikov spoke about the open architecture of the Orion-E drone. According to him, this allows the device to carry any set of weapons.
The upgraded version of the Orion-E was presented in September. The device received a satellite communication system that allows you to control the drone and exchange data.
