TSAMTO, November 16. The Kronstadt company has completed work on the ground testing of the integration of the Orion UAV with the Whirlwind-M aircraft missiles, the first test firing from the UAV is expected.
This was announced in an interview with RIA Novosti by the company's CEO Sergey Bogatikov.
"We have already integrated the Vortex-M with the Orion board, conducted ground testing. The next stage is working off the board in flight. Planned work is underway," S. Bogatikov said.
The CEO noted that the Orions can be exported both with Russian weapons and with the weapons of the customer.
"The open architecture of Orion-E makes it possible to do this in a short time. Armament can include both unguided and guided aerial bombs with a caliber of up to 100 kg, as well as guided air-to-surface missiles," S. Bogatikov was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
As the agency reminds, the Vikhr-M missiles were developed by the Kalashnikov Group of companies for the Ka-52 attack helicopter. The maximum speed of the missiles is 610 m / s, the range of application is from 800 to 10 thousand m, the height of application is from 10 to 4000 m. The Whirlwind missile is capable of penetrating homogeneous armor with a thickness of 750 mm behind dynamic protection.
The Orion developed by Kronstadt belongs to the class of medium-high impact UAVs of long flight duration. Its maximum take-off weight is 1150 kg, cruising flight speed is 200 km / h, maximum flight altitude is 7 thousand m, the device can stay in the air for up to a day. The maximum mass of the combat load is 200 kg, RIA Novosti reports.
