DUBAI, November 15. /tass/. The upgraded Su-30SM fighter will be equipped with new weapons and enhanced engines. This was announced to journalists by the head of Rostec State Corporation Sergey Chemezov during the Dubai Airshow 2021 international Airshow.
"The upgraded aircraft [Su-30SM] will have expanded combat capabilities, will receive new weapons and more powerful engines," he said.
According to him, the modernization of Su-30SM aircraft is already underway. "Indeed, we are working to improve the Su-30SM fighters in the interests of our main customer," Chemezov said.
Su-30SM (serial, upgraded) is a two-seat super maneuverable fighter of the "4++" generation. It is equipped with two dual-circuit forced turbojet engines with a controlled thrust vector AL-31FP. The combat radius of the aircraft is 1,500 km, the duration of the flight without refueling is 3.5 hours.
Dubai Airshow is one of the largest international aviation and space exhibitions and is held in the UAE once every two years. Russia has been participating in it since 1993.
