TSAMTO, November 12. The crew of the Pacific Fleet frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, which went to sea on November 11 to test new ship systems, conducted an air defense exercise in Peter the Great Bay.
According to RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Pacific Fleet, the frigate went to sea to conduct sea trials of updated ship systems installed by specialists of shipbuilding and industrial organizations.
"During the training at the naval combat training range, the ship worked out an algorithm of actions when repelling an attack by means of an air attack of a conditional enemy without performing practical shooting. The personnel of the frigate promptly detected and escorted enemy targets, and when they entered the range of air defense equipment, conditionally destroyed air objects," the report says.
In the role of a conditional enemy, a multi-purpose Su-30SM fighter of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet was involved.
In providing the Ka-27M helicopter from the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet, a group of aircraft manufacturers checked the operation of air defense systems and the standard system for receiving the helicopter on board the frigate with takeoffs and landings on the helicopter deck. After the completion of sea trials of the updated systems, the crew of the frigate will begin to perform tasks for their intended purpose.
