By the end of the year, the Russian military will receive the first heavy flamethrower systems TOS-2 "Tosochka". The delivery dates were announced by the general director of the scientific and production association (NGO) "Alloy" Alexander Smirnov in an interview with Interfax .
He noted that the delivery of "Tosochka" to the troops will begin this year. According to Smirnov, work on the implementation of the contract is going on in parallel with the state tests of the system, which should be completed in the coming days.
The General Director of the NGO "Splav" stressed that the tests of the Tosochka CBT-2 were affected by weather conditions. Smirnov said that the firing tests of the flamethrower system will be completed by the end of the week.
In September, the publication of The National Interest noted the advantage of heavy flamethrower systems TOS-2 "Tosochka". Thus, columnist Sebastien Roblin stressed that the combat qualities of the machine were improved thanks to new fire control and guidance systems.
In November last year, a source of "Izvestia" in the Ministry of Defense reported that the first Tosochka TOS-2 systems would be received by units of the Southern Military District (SE). He also noted that vehicles on a wheeled chassis will replace the heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1 "Pinocchio" and TOS-1A "Solntsepek" in the troops.
