Yekaterinburg. November 11. INTERFAX - Motorized rifle and tank units of the 201st military base of the Russian Federation in Tajikistan conducted more than two hundred live firings in 2021, the Central Military District (CVO) reported.
"About 250 live firings were conducted at the 201st military base of the Russian Federation in Tajikistan from BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and T-72 tanks during the coordination of motorized rifle and tank units in the 2021 academic year, " the press service of the district said.
The servicemen at the Lyaur and Sambuli training grounds worked out aspects of defense and offensive, as well as the fight against unmanned aerial vehicles, sabotage reconnaissance groups of a conditional enemy, the Central Military District clarified.
During the year, the units of the compound took part in more than 1.5 thousand fire training classes with practical shooting from small arms and grenade launchers. More than 800 practical training sessions with military personnel on driving combat and special vehicles were also held at the autodromes and tankodromes, the Central Military District added.
In addition, the military conducted more than 2 thousand classes on tactical and tactical-special training at various levels, where issues of interaction between motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units and air defense were worked out.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia's largest military facility outside of its borders (part of the Central Military District). It is located in two cities - Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It consists of motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
Against the background of the Taliban movement coming to power in Afghanistan (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), the Russian military reported on strengthening the base in Tajikistan with new weapons.
In addition, this summer and autumn, Russia held several exercises in Tajikistan near the Afghan border, including international ones. Several thousand servicemen took part in the maneuvers, and military equipment was also involved. The basis of the Russian contingent at the exercises were the units of the 201st base.
