According to a TASS source, in the coming days he will begin a flight to a permanent-based airfield
MOSCOW, November 10. /tass/. The hundredth separate naval fighter aviation regiment of the Northern Fleet has completed training on an analog of an aircraft carrier - the NITKA ground test training complex in Saki in the Crimea. In the coming days, he will begin flying to a permanent-based airfield, a source close to the Crimean law enforcement agencies told TASS.
"Training flights from the NITKA complex have been completed. Approximately on November 15-17, the regiment will begin flying to a permanent-based airfield," the source said.
According to him, up to 10 carrier-based MiG-29K/KUB fighters were used during training.
TASS has no official confirmation of this information.
Earlier it was reported that in early October, MiG-29K / KUB 100 OKIAP aircraft flew to the NITKA complex in Saki with several intermediate landings. Prior to that, the press service of the Northern Fleet reported that the 279th regiment, which is armed with Su-33 and Su-25UTG carrier-based aircraft, completed training there. According to her, for more than a month, seven pilots, including five young pilots of carrier-based aviation, were able to prepare for landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier. All of them took off from the ship's springboard on a Su-33 fighter jet and independently landed on a ground simulator with an aircraft finisher cable hook.
Before flying from an aircraft carrier, pilots of carrier-based aviation must obtain access to them according to existing regulations. Two NITKA complexes in Saki and Yeysk can be used for their preparation. It is known about the first one that it needs modernization, about the second one that its commissioning has been repeatedly postponed.
The NITKA complexes are designed for testing the take-off and landing of naval aircraft. The complex in Saki is an airfield with a steel airfield in the form of a ship's deck, equipped with a springboard and aerial finishers. The dimensions of the airfield are equivalent to the flight deck of the Admiral Kuznetsov.
In February 2017, the naval aircraft carrier strike group of the Northern Fleet returned to Severomorsk from the Mediterranean Sea. The group included, in particular, the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov and the heavy nuclear missile cruiser Peter the Great. For the first time in the recent history of the Russian Navy, the Kuznetsov carrier-based aircraft was involved in a military operation in Syria. The pilots of the 279th OKIAP participated mainly in combat work.
The heavy aircraft carrier Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov is currently under repair. Its completion is planned for 2023.
