The average flight time of the pilot was almost 100 hours
MOSCOW, November 10. /tass/. Naval aviation pilots spent more time in the sky in 2021 compared to 2020 due to attempts to violate the borders of the Russian Federation. This was stated by the commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergei Avakyants, in an interview with the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.
"We will not allow anyone to violate our air borders either. The crews of MiG-31 interceptor fighters are on air defense duty around the clock in Kamchatka and Chukotka. In addition to them, crews of anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142 and Il-38 spent more time in the sky this year. This, by the way, is reflected in the overall flight performance of naval aviation pilots for the year, which amounted to more than seven thousand hours, and the average flight time for a flying pilot was almost 100 hours, an increase of two percent compared to last year," Avakyants said.
He recalled the incident with the American destroyer Chafee in the waters of the Sea of Japan. "The crew of the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs of the Pacific Fleet displaced an American ship from the state border of the Russian Federation. The footage from this event was spread across all federal channels and not only Russian, but also worldwide. I think it's unnecessary to comment on something in the case of this incident. Everyone saw everything for themselves. The Pacific sailors fulfilled the task of preventing the violation of the border of our Homeland," the commander of the Pacific Fleet stressed.
On October 15, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that the ship of the Pacific Fleet "Admiral Tributs" prevented an attempt by the US Navy destroyer Chafee to cross the state border of the Russian Federation in the Sea of Japan.
