The repair of the ship will be completed in the summer of 2023, and at the end of the same year the aircraft carrier will be handed over to the fleet, the TASS interlocutor noted.
MOSCOW, November 9. /tass/. The heavy aircraft carrier of the 1143.5 Admiral Kuznetsov project is planned to be delivered to the modernized dry dock of the 35th SRZ branch of the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center in June next year. At the same time, the ship's delivery dates will be shifted to 2023. This was reported to TASS by a source in the military-industrial complex.
"The docking of the Admiral Kuznetsov cruiser will take place in June next year. The ship will stand on the slipway of the new dock for the installation of the screw-steering group and hull works. Its repair will be completed in the summer of 2023, and at the end of the same year the aircraft carrier will be handed over to the fleet," the agency interlocutor said.
According to him, the updated dock is able to accept the cruiser by the end of this year. "However, this technological procedure is safer to carry out in stable weather, in warm and bright times," he added.
According to the results of a closed tender in June 2020, the United Shipbuilding Corporation signed a contract for the reconstruction and technical re-equipment of a two-chamber dry dock for the repair of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. Orgenergostroy became the contractor.
On the night of October 30, 2018, the only large floating dock of the project 7454 PD-50 sank in Murmansk during the planned exit of the Admiral Kuznetsov from it. There are no other suitable docks for receiving a ship of such displacement in the north of the Russian Federation. Then it was decided by combining the northern and southern chambers of the dry dock to build a single-chamber elongated dock with dimensions of 70 by 400 m. Such dimensions are necessary for the dock repair of a heavy aircraft carrier. The new dry dock will be able to receive ships and vessels of all existing projects in the country.
