Moscow. November 8th. INTERFAX - The frigate of the Northern Fleet "Admiral Gorshkov" made the transition to the White Sea as part of the program of testing modern naval weapons, the press service of the fleet reported on Monday.
"The frigate of the Northern Fleet Admiral Gorshkov made the transition from the main base of the fleet - Severomorsk on the Kola Peninsula to the city of Severodvinsk on the White Sea to continue the testing program of modern sea-based weapons," the report says.
The military reported that during the transition, the ship's crew improved naval training and prepared for the upcoming tasks.
At the end of October, in the Barents Sea, the frigate worked out anti-aircraft missile firing at sea and air targets with the new complex "Poliment-Redut" (anti-aircraft missile system, which is installed on Russian frigates and corvettes of a new generation, JSC "Concern East Kazakhstan Region "Almaz-Antey").
As reported, Admiral Gorshkov is participating in the tests of the new Russian hypersonic missile "Zircon" (Tactical Missile Armament Corporation, KTRV).
The military reported successful test launches of the Zircon from the Admiral Gorshkov frigate, in particular, in July of this year, as well as in December, November and October 2020.
On October 4, the Russian military conducted the first test launch of a hypersonic missile "Zircon" from a submarine of the Northern Fleet.
On November 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that tests of the Zircon missile are being completed, it will enter service with the Russian fleet in 2022.
As Interfax reported, the Russian Defense Ministry signed a contract for the supply of Zircon missiles on August 24 at the Army-2021 military-technical forum.
The contract for the supply of Zircons is of a long-term nature, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in an interview shown on November 8 by the Rossiya-24 TV channel (VGTRK).
