The Russian Helicopters holding noted that this is the first Russian helicopter, the design documentation of which was completely conducted in digital form
MOSCOW, November 8. /tass/. The deeply modernized Ka-226T helicopter made its first flight, the Russian Helicopters holding company (part of Rostec Group) said in a statement.
"The deeply modernized Ka-226T light helicopter, which is being developed by the Russian Helicopters holding company of Rostec State Corporation, has started flight tests and made its first flight on the basis of the flight test complex of the National Helicopter Center Miles and Kamov. This is the first Russian rotorcraft, the design documentation of which was completely conducted in digital form," the report says.
As explained in Russian Helicopters, the upgraded helicopter has improved aerodynamic characteristics, as well as the airframe and fuselage design have been changed.
"The vehicle's load-bearing system has also been significantly updated - the Ka-226T has received a new main rotor column, blades and main gearbox, and a shock-resistant accident-resistant fuel system has been installed that meets increased safety requirements," Russian Helicopters noted.
In addition, the helicopter is equipped with updated electronic equipment.
"The Ka-226T has a coaxial rotor scheme, which provides good handling in thin air conditions, resistance to strong crosswind, high rate of climb, the ability to take off and land on platforms located at high altitudes. Also, the Ka-226T helicopter is highly effective when flying over the water surface. It can take off and land on the deck of even small sea vessels," the holding noted.
