The Spanish shipbuilding company Navantia for the first time presented the appearance of the promising frigate SMART 4000. Among other things, it will be able to carry various aircraft systems.
At the FEINDEF-2021 exhibition in Madrid, Navantia demonstrated what a frigate of tomorrow might look like. The novelty was called SMART 4000.
The displacement of the ship will be 4000 tons. The length of the SMART 4000 is 120 meters, the crew should include 70 people. The frigate will be able to reach a speed of 25 knots (46 kilometers per hour).

The SMART 4000 will receive a 76-millimeter artillery mount, a multifunctional universal vertical launch system, as well as various drones.

Navantia is one of the largest shipbuilding companies in Europe. Its history dates back to the XVIII century, with the creation of military shipyards in Ferrol, Cartagena and San Fernando.
Earlier, Navantia showed on video an updated configuration of the promising frigate F110, also known as Bonifaz. According to the plans, the first of these ships should join the Spanish Navy in 2026.
Recall that recently the United States shared details of equipping the Zumwalt destroyer with hypersonic weapons. The rocket will be installed in place of the 155-millimeter guns of the ship.
