The creation of weapons in Russia that have no analogues in the world has ensured a high level of military security of the country for decades, helped to strengthen strategic parity, the president said.

At the final meeting in Sochi on strengthening the Armed Forces, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief proposed to discuss equipping the army and navy with systems based on new physical principles. "The creation of laser, hypersonic, kinetic and other weapons in our country, which has no analogues in the world, has become a real breakthrough in the field of military technologies, seriously, significantly increased the capabilities of the Armed Forces, for many years, even decades, provided a high level of military security of Russia, helped to strengthen strategic parity," he stressed.

The development and mass production of effective, high-tech, innovative weapons is one of the key areas of development of the Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin said and announced that the tests of the sea-based hypersonic cruise missile Zircon are being completed. Starting next year, these missiles will begin to arrive in the Navy.

It is especially important to develop and implement the technologies necessary to create new hypersonic weapons systems, high-power lasers, robotic complexes that will be able to effectively counter potential military threats and further strengthen Russia's security, Putin said. Of paramount importance in the development of promising types and models of weapons is the use of artificial intelligence technologies, which should provide a qualitative breakthrough in improving the combat characteristics of weapons. "Such technologies should be more actively used in command and control systems of troops and weapons, in communications and data transmission, as well as in high-precision missile systems," the president believes. Equally important is the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies in the creation of promising robotics with an increased degree of autonomy, in providing control of drones and deep-sea vehicles.

All these priorities should be reflected in the new State Armament Program until 2033, Putin said. The key task is to ensure that promising models of weapons and equipment provide reliable protection of Russia from potential threats.
