The first use of autonomous drones for military purposes will not be accompanied by the appearance of a giant fireball in the sky and may initially look quite harmless, writes the American magazine Popular Mechanics.
The publication illustrated this statement by describing a hypothetical situation in which American soldiers in Poland, who went to rest after the exercises, are attacked by Russian drones.
"The soldiers hear a faint buzzing in the distance and see a dark cloud crossing the horizon. Suddenly, a lone unmanned scout sweeps low over the Americans. Like a predator scenting prey, the cloud stops and freezes, and then rushes towards the soldiers at high speed," the magazine writes.
According to the material, "each of the attacking drones chooses its target, while artificial intelligence (AI) ensures that two drones are not aimed at the same vehicle."
The magazine claims that for the first time military drones attacked people and their accompanying equipment in March 2020 during the civil war in Libya.
In November, TASS With reference to the press service of the Technodinamika holding, he reported that an aerial target, a helicopter simulator, was used at the Russian-Serbian exercises "Slavic Shield-2021".
