During the exercises, the crews of the Rostov-on-Don and Veliky Novgorod submarines practiced striking with Kalibr-PL missiles at a detachment of ships of a conditional enemy.
According to the press service of the Black Sea Fleet, "after performing an urgent dive, submariners carried out a conditional missile strike from an underwater position on the ships of the "enemy", whose role was performed by a tactical group of missile ships.
The exercises, in which two submarines were involved, are planned, the Black Sea Fleet said.
"According to the plan of the exercise, submarines performing planned combat training tasks at sea received an order to destroy detected and classified naval targets," the press release says.
Earlier, the media reported that the US Navy destroyer USS Porter, equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles, entered the Black Sea. According to the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, the Russian military immediately began tracking him.
