The first series of successful firing tests of the Trophy active protection complex installed on the German Leopard 2 tank took place. According to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, these works are carried out in accordance with an agreement signed in February last year with the German Ministry of Defense.
Combat tests were conducted by the developer of KAZ, the company Rafael, and the manufacturer of armored vehicles Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW).
They demonstrated the Trophy's integration with the combat vehicle and the capabilities of the anti-missile system itself. The interception success rate was much higher than 90%. Also, the equipment provided an accurate determination of the location of the position from where the shelling was conducted.
Other details, such as which anti-tank guided missiles and rocket-propelled grenades were used, have not yet been reported. There is also no video footage from the landfill.
Foreign and Russian military experts have repeatedly noted that after such modernization, the Leopard 2A7, along with the fact that its security characteristics will significantly increase, the combat mass will also increase significantly. According to various estimates, it will come close to 70,000 kg, which will negatively affect mobility, cross-country ability and speed characteristics.
It is known that cars from Germany will compete with South Korean K2NO Black Panther in Norway, whose armed forces are planning to upgrade their armored fleet.
Trophy is currently already used on Israeli Merkava Mark 4, Namer heavy armored personnel carriers, American M1A2S Abrams. We also tested it on the British Challenger-2.
