The American Joint Systems Manufacturing Center in Lima may receive funds for the modernization of the M1A2 Abrams tank. In the USA, they wanted to equip the tank with an uninhabited turret and a loading machine. This is reported by Army Recognition with reference to the press release of Congressman Tim Ryan's team.
The congressman initiated the allocation of $ 65 million for the modernization of the M1A2 Abrams tank. This will extend the service life of the machine and increase its combat capabilities. Additional funds will also allow the tank to be equipped with a new turret.
The press release stressed that additional funding will be directed to the development of requirements and architecture for the integration of an uninhabited tower with automatic loader in M1A2 Abrams. It will also allow us to start work on a hybrid powerplant for an American tank.
Earlier, the Korean Central Telegraph Agency published a picture of the DPRK's new tank. In the design of the machine, solutions were noticed that were used on the American M1 Abrams tank and the Russian T-14 Armata. The new tank was demonstrated during the exhibition "Self-Defense-2021" in Pyongyang.
In July, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski announced that the country's armed forces would purchase M1A2 Abrams tanks from the United States. Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak clarified that Poland will purchase 250 tanks to equip four battalions.
