The Indian Armed Forces launched the Agni-V intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) at night. During the tests, the rocket covered a distance of more than 5,000 kilometers. This is reported by Army Recognition.
The rocket was launched from a test center on the island of Abdul Kalam off the coast of Odisha. The solid-fuel rocket successfully covered a distance of more than 5,000 kilometers, and the head of the Agni-V fell into the Bay of Bengal. The flight of the rocket was tracked by radars and optoelectronic systems.
Army Recognition notes that the purpose of the tests could be a demonstration of force. So, now the range of the Agni-V allows you to hit the economic centers of China. During past tests, the missile's flight range did not exceed 3,000 kilometers. The declared maximum range of the missile is 8000 kilometers.
According to the publication, more than $ 300 million has already been spent on the development of a three-stage rocket. Now Indian designers are working on the splitting head part of the Agni-V. This will make the rocket a carrier of nuclear weapons.
Earlier, the industrial director of the arms complex of the Rostec state Corporation, Bekhan Ozdoev, told RIA Novosti about the accuracy of the Russian missile. According to him, the ammunition of the Iskander-E tactical missile system (OTRK) hit the target with high accuracy during tests.
In September, the US Navy launched the Trident II ICBM from the Ohio-class nuclear submarine Wyoming (SSBN-742). The video of the tests was published on the US Navy's Twitter account.
