A new protection system for helicopters will be developed in Russia. It will protect rotorcraft from dangerous left rotation and warn the pilot that he goes beyond the limits prescribed by the protocol.
This is reported by the press service of the Navigator company, where this system is being developed. It was explained here that left rotation is observed mainly at the stages of hovering, takeoff and landing, when flying at low altitudes. The causes of left rotation are track control failures, transmission malfunction, intermediate or tail gear malfunctions. All this can lead to disasters.
As the company's CEO Sergey Baburov added, there are aerobatics techniques that allow you to take the helicopter out of the vortex ring. However, experts want not only the pilot's skill to be responsible for safety, but also the aircraft system itself. It is assumed that she will warn the pilot when he goes beyond the limits prescribed by the flight protocol.
The new system will be developed in 2022.
