In Komsomolsk-on-Amur, it is planned to place the production of light multipurpose aircraft "Baikal". The new plant will appear in the Dzemga area, near the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft assembly shop.
To do this, it is planned to expand the boundaries of the preferential zone of the Komsomolsk TOR by creating a new Amur platform, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Khabarovsk Territory noted. The launch of serial production of the LMS-901 "Baikal" is planned to begin in 2024.
"Khabarovsk Krai plans to increase its aircraft manufacturing capacity by expanding the range of civil aviation to small aircraft — Baikal-type aircraft," said Mikhail Degtyarev, the head of the region, AmurMedia news agency reports.
As it became known in September, the Russian Yak-40 passenger aircraft, previously presented at the MAKS-2021 aviation exhibition in an electric version, may also receive a hydrogen engine in the future. Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, said that as part of the research work, the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) is working out solutions for the Yak-40 electric engine, but with hydrogen cooling of the electric system.
"This is the first stage. The second stage will be the use of hydrogen as fuel cells in order to provide electric aircraft with energy," Manturov said.
