The Russian Su-57, which a number of experts do not consider fully fifth-generation fighters, are currently under development and testing, as a result of which the appearance of such serial aircraft and the start of their full-scale production should be expected in at least a few years, [...] the Polish edition of Defence24 notes.
"By this time, the Americans will most likely begin to adopt or at least to flight tests of a new generation NGAD combat aircraft, work on which has already begun. It seems that Russia is constantly lagging behind by at least one generation [of fighters], despite its considerable capabilities and experience," the publication says.
The publication assures that in fact the serial Su-57 will be a fighter with a new engine, and not the current version of the aircraft, which receives the power plant from the Su-35. "In fact, this is the target production version, which should be ready in a few years, but is being promoted as a further upgrade ," Defence24 claims.
Thus, the publication commented on the reaction of Rostec to the publication of the American magazine The National Interest, which stated that the Su-57 is unlikely to enter service until 2027. The state corporation reported that Russian aircraft regularly become a target for information stuffing.
