The strategic missile submarine "Prince Oleg" fired a ballistic missile "Bulava" from the waters of the White Sea. On the air of Sputnik radio, military expert Viktor Litovkin commented on the tests.

The nuclear submarine of Project 955-A "Borey-A" "Prince Oleg" has launched a Bulava ballistic missile in the White Sea.

"The launch of a ballistic missile was carried out from an underwater position at the Kura test site in Kamchatka," RIA Novosti quoted the Ministry of Defense as saying.

The ministry clarified that the missile's warheads had "successfully arrived in the specified area" at the estimated time.

On the air of Sputnik radio, a military expert, retired colonel Viktor Litovkin commented on the tests.

"The new strategic nuclear submarine cruiser Prince Oleg is being put into combat operation. To check its combat capability, the operation of all its systems, a control launch of the Bulava rocket is carried out. He will have sixteen such missiles on board, each missile will have four to six warheads. In this way, our Navy and its nuclear strategic component will be strengthened. This is a very good fact, a good example. "Prince Oleg" is our fifth strategic missile cruiser of the Borey class. And there should be ten such ships in total. They will fulfill their role in the strategy of deterring a potential enemy," Viktor Litovkin said.
