The United States surpasses Russia and China in its military power, Popular Mechanics magazine says, citing a study by the RAND Corporation.
The report, in particular, claims that Russia and China will draw closer militarily, "as the sum of their power approaches the capabilities of the United States."
According to the report, the current US military power is estimated at 0.6, whereas in 1997 this parameter was 0.7. Russia's military power remains in the range of 0.19-0.22. China's power from 1997 to 2016 increased from 0.1 to 0.25.
Separately, it is emphasized that the total military power of Moscow and Beijing, estimated at 0.41, still does not lag behind this indicator for Washington.
RAND emphasizes that Russia still uses Soviet military equipment. The corporation is confident that the preservation of the country's power is due to the adoption of new nuclear submarines and hypersonic missiles.
The growth of China's capabilities is explained both by the active development of the navy and combat aviation, and by the increase in the number of strategic ballistic missiles.
In August 2020, analysts Ryan Bauer and Peter Wilson, in an article for the American research organization RAND, announced the Russian Su-57 as a fourth-generation fighter that faced "numerous problems and failures."
