Turkey's acquisition of Russian Su-35 and Su-57 fighters due to the conflict with the United States is quite likely. So military expert Vadim Kozyulin appreciated the statement of the head of the Defense Industry Department of Turkey Ismail Demir, who allowed the possibility of such a purchase. This is reported by Izvestia.
Earlier, Demir said that Turkey could buy Russian Su-35 and Su-57 fighters in the event of a freeze in the sale of F-16 aircraft by the United States. The Turkish side plans to purchase 40 F-16V Block 70 aircraft and 80 sets for the modernization of the country's Air Force aircraft.
"This is quite likely, since [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan has entered, one might say, into a clinch with the United States. And he is a man who does not back down," Kozyulin said.
The expert stressed that Turkey has completed a deal to purchase Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs), despite pressure from the United States. Thus, the Turkish side suffered losses after being excluded from the F-35 aircraft development program.
According to Kozyulin, relations between the United States and Turkey will deteriorate, which will expand opportunities for cooperation with Russia. He noted that the purchase of the SAM was the first step. The expert added that Turkey will not be able to find analogues of Russian weapons in other countries.
Last week, the Turkish newspaper Milliyet told about the development of an analogue of the S-400. The authors of the publication suggested that the creation of a new air defense system will take several years.
