More than 2 thousand special forces troops will be relocated to the Crimea for exercises
Moscow. October 14th. INTERFAX - Within the framework of the command and staff exercise, in which about 8 thousand servicemen take part, formations and military units of the Southern Military District (SE) have been alerted to work out elements of bringing to the highest levels of readiness, the press service of the district reported on Thursday.
"The command and staff exercise involves formations and military units of the Southern Military District, as well as units of military bases stationed in Abkhazia, Armenia, South Ossetia, as well as part of the forces of the Black Sea Fleet, the Caspian Flotilla, which will work out practical actions in the waters of the Black and Caspian Seas," the message says.
About 8 thousand servicemen were involved in the exercise, about 350 units of weapons and military equipment from the combined arms armies, air Force and air defense associations, formations and units of the armed forces and special forces of the district subordination, the forces of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla were involved, the press service noted.
"The objectives of the exercise are to check the level of readiness and ability of the command bodies of the troops (forces) of the Southern Military District to act in solving the tasks of ensuring the military security of the Russian Federation in the South-Western strategic direction, getting practice by commanders, commanders and headquarters for the management of troops (forces) during combat training," the press service added.
It is noted that at the first stage of the exercise, individual military units and units of the Southern Military District worked out the elements of bringing to the highest degrees of readiness and made marches in a combined way to designated areas.
The press service also reported that more than 2 thousand military personnel of the special purpose unit of the Southern Military District in the Krasnodar Territory were alerted and started marching to participate in a command and staff exercise.
"Motor transport columns consisting of more than 200 units of wheeled vehicles will be relocated to the area of the Opuk landfill in the Crimea. On the march, the servicemen will perform the tasks of controlling through closed radio communication channels, as well as providing protection from fire damage, the effects of weapons of mass destruction of a conditional enemy," the message says.
The final command and staff exercise was organized as part of the final inspection of the troops (forces) of the Southern Military District for the 2021 academic year. During the exercise, a special commission of the headquarters of the Southern Military District will assess the implementation of combat readiness measures, the state of weapons and military equipment, logistics.
