Ukraine plans to create a light space rocket designed to be launched from a floating platform located in the Atlantic or Indian Ocean, the statement of the head of the country's State Space Agency (SCAU) Vladimir Taftai reports to RKB-Ukraine .
According to him, the carrying capacity of the new carrier will be about 700 kilograms. Within the framework of the project, the state space program provides for the allocation of 180 million dollars for the creation of a rocket until 2025.
"Now we are moving away completely from dependence on the Russian Federation, and, accordingly, this makes it possible to tell us that this is a 100 percent implemented project. Since the rocket that we are creating will be smaller, then the engine for it will be smaller. Of course, the necessary studies have already been carried out, and we understand that this is a realizable thing," Taftai told the publication.
In September, the former head of the SCAU and director of the private company Kurs Orbital, Vladimir Usov, said that the economic indicators of Ukrainian rocket and space industry enterprises are getting worse from year to year, since Ukraine does not create demand for space products, and there are no tools to attract international investment.
