Ukraine has high technologies that allow, through the American Artemis program, to have claims to access to lunar resources, the statement of the head of the country's State Space Agency (SCAU), Vladimir Taftai, reports RKB-Ukraine .
"Ukraine, which has high technologies, can and should be part of such programs. In 2020, we joined the Artemis program, and this is a very important moment. We discussed Ukraine's participation in lunar programs, including during a recent visit to the United States with the heads of NASA and the EU. A lot of attention is being paid to the directions of the development of the Moon and Mars, and quite substantial funding is planned," the head of the SCAU said.
According to him, the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau has "a development on hydrolysis and electrolysis of water on the Moon and on energy accumulators." "I think we will definitely apply," Taftai answered the question of the publication about the possibility of Ukraine to claim the resources of a natural satellite of the Earth.
In September, the former head of the SCAU and director of the private company Kurs Orbital, Vladimir Usov, said that the economic indicators of Ukrainian rocket and space industry enterprises are getting worse from year to year, since Ukraine does not create demand for space products, and there are no tools to attract international investment.
