The naval strike group of the Caspian Flotilla repelled a naval attack by a conditional enemy as part of the exercises, the press service of the Southern Military District reported. The group was supported by aircraft from the Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the district.
In total, more than 20 flotilla ships, base and raid minesweepers, as well as boats and support vessels were involved in the final inspection of the troops. The ship's group also practiced maneuvering when exiting the battle and repelling an air attack.
"According to the plan of the exercise, a detachment of warships was attacked by a ship group of a conditional enemy. The crew of the small rocket ship "uGlich" returned fire on naval targets, covering the main forces. After launching a missile strike on coastal targets on the island of Chechnya, the ship group of the flotilla consisting of the MRK Veliky Ustyug, Grad Sviyazhsk and the small artillery ship Astrakhan engaged in a naval battle <...> Su-30SM and Su-34 aircraft from the army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District provided air support," the report says.
