VLADIVOSTOK, October 6. /TASS/. A carousel of a pair of Ka-27PS helicopters of the Pacific Fleet Marine Aviation (TOF) will be used for the first time as a defense element at bilateral brigade tactical exercises of marine corps formations in Primorye. This was reported on Wednesday by the press service of the fleet.
"An element called an "aerial carousel" from a pair of Ka-27PS helicopters of the Naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet will be tested at the stage of landing on the unequipped coast of the tactical air assault group from Mi-8 helicopters. During the landing of the marines, two Ka-27 helicopters will circle over the designated area to reveal the ground situation for the presence of ambushes that could disrupt the landing," the report says.
Two brigades of marines stationed in Primorye and Kamchatka participate in the exercises in full strength. During the active phase of the exercises, which will begin on October 7, more than 900 units of weapons and military equipment will be involved, including about 15 ships, boats and support vessels, as well as aircraft and helicopters of army and naval aviation.
More than 5 thousand servicemen will play out the main episode with live firing and landing of naval and airborne troops on the unequipped coast at the Klerk training ground in Primorsky Krai. The exercises will end on October 8.
