Small-sized ammunition has been tested in Turkey. The METE mini-missile is designed to arm quadrocopters, ground-based unmanned platforms and infantry. The tests were announced on Twitter by the head of the Turkish Defense Industry Department, Ismail Demir.
In the message, Demir noted that the ammunition from the Roketsan company can be used as an infantry weapon and be included in the arsenal of unmanned vehicles. The attached video shows the tests of the new rocket. A quadrocopter with a launcher successfully hit a ground target with a METE missile.
For the first time, a rocket called Yatağan was presented in 2019. Later, the ammunition was renamed in honor of the Turkish archer Mete Gazoz, who won a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The 40 mm caliber missile is designed for combat in urban conditions. METE can hit light fortifications, vehicles and enemy manpower at a distance of up to one thousand meters. The missile is guided by a laser beam. The manufacturer claims that the maximum deviation from the target does not exceed one meter. The mass of the rocket is 1.2 kilograms with a length of 500 millimeters.
Earlier, the Bayraktar DIHA drone was presented in Turkey. The vertical take-off and landing device can be part of the air group of the landing ship TGG Anadolu, the Habericerik newspaper reported.
