According to Vladimir Solovyov, the general designer of RSC Energia, now 80% of the equipment in the Russian segment is beyond resources
MOSCOW, October 4. /TASS/. /TASS/. Russia cannot fully use one of the docking nodes of the ISS due to leaks in the transition chamber of the ZVEZDA module. This was announced on Monday by the general Designer of the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) ENERGIA, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Solovyov.
"Now the leakiness of the transition chamber often sounds, we are very lucky that it is at the end, we have closed this compartment. However, they lost, for a moment, the docking node, which slightly narrows the possibilities. But the leakiness is very insignificant," Solovyov said at the conference of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences "Scientific Space of the XXI century: challenges, solutions, breakthroughs."
According to the general designer, now 80% of the equipment in the Russian segment is beyond resources. "It happens that there are not fires, thank God, but serious smoke. If the equipment is behind the resource, it has every right to refuse," he said.
In the American segment, Solovyov clarified, now about 250 comments on serious systems remain unclosed in the magazine: structures, solar panels.
"How are they fundamentally different from us? They have more opportunities, more resources, so they have the opportunity to order a large panorama of various kinds of backup equipment in advance and change the whole economy pretty quickly," the general designer added.
Now the ships are docked to the modules "Dawn", "Science". In November, the docking of the Berth node module with the ISS is planned.
