The remotely controlled nArwhal combat module has been tested. The installation with a large-caliber machine gun will become the new armament of the ships that will guard the coast of Russia. The module was developed by specialists of NPO eLektromashina (part of the Uralvagonzavod concern of the ROSTEC State Corporation). This is reported by TASS with reference to the general director of the company Igor Afanasyev.
The head of the NGO "eLektromashina" noted that the nArwhal successfully passed the tests. "Our product surpassed its competitors — it shot better, costs less and, most importantly, is easier to manage," Afanasyev added.
The combat module is designed to be installed on promising boats that will guard the Russian coast. The General Director of the enterprise noted that foreign customers were interested in the module. Initially, the development was intended for the needs of the Russian Navy.
The remotely controlled naval combat module "nArwhal" received a 12.7 mm KORD machine gun. The operator can observe the target using a camera and a thermal imager. The module is also equipped with a laser rangefinder and automatic target tracking. At the request of the customer, the nArwhal can be supplemented with a circular viewing system, radar and means of protection against high-precision weapons.
Earlier it became known about the development of a new perimeter security system. The Prometheus complex received 16 combat modules with machine guns. Robotic guards allow you to record illegal entry.
