Scientists of the Military Institute of Engineering Troops have created new means of overcoming mine-explosive barriers for wheeled armored vehicles.
Having analyzed the ways and means of overcoming minefields, mines in service with foreign states, methods of their installation, modern tactics of conducting combat operations and calculations of the effectiveness of promising means, young scientists of the Institute, Major Andrey Dontsov and Lieutenant Colonel Denis Roslov proposed two designs of minesweepers for combat wheeled vehicles, writes Krasnaya Zvezda.
The modular trawl provides passage in the minefield during sharp changes in terrain and encounters with insurmountable obstacles due to the new design and landing of the copying sections at a certain angle. Modules weighing up to 60 kilograms allow you to assemble a trawl by the crew, without the use of lifting equipment, and the explosion resistance of the system is provided by an elliptical load-bearing frame.
The roller trawl is also arranged according to the modular principle - its design allows you to quickly change damaged elements. The special shape of the frame and the installation angles of the mechanisms minimize the impact of detonation products on the trawl. The universal hitching mechanism allows you to use the trawl with any combat wheeled vehicle.
New developments are used in conjunction with an electromagnetic attachment for minesweeping with electromagnetic fuses and devices for neutralizing pin mines. The modular trawl can also be used to protect tracked armored vehicles.
