Eyewitnesses in Russia noticed a new fighter. Presumably, the aircraft in the picture is a prototype of the modernized Su-30SM, which was built at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ). This is reported by the bmpd blog.
The authors note that the aircraft has not yet received a standard paint scheme, but you can already see the identification marks of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the tail number "001 red"on the prototype.
Last time, we managed to get pictures of this aircraft during the intermediate landing of a prototype in Omsk in the summer. Presumably, the plane was flying from Irkutsk to Zhukovsky, writes bmpd.
In May, Izvestia, citing a source in the military department, reported on the modernization of Su-30SM aircraft. The fighters of the Aerospace Forces and naval aviation will be upgraded to the level of the Su-30SM2. The aircraft will receive new AL-41F-1C engines, an Irbis radar and an expanded arsenal.
In August, Konstantin Sivkov, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences (RARAN) for Information Policy, Doctor of Military Sciences, appreciated the main parade of the Navy in St. Petersburg. According to the expert, most of the aviation on the parade is represented by Soviet-designed vehicles. Only the Su-30SM and Ka-52K can be considered Russian, said Sivkov.
