In the Rostov region, servicemen of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division practiced the landing of a mass tactical landing by helicopter. A squadron of transport and combat Mi-8AMTSh "Terminator" and a pair of multi-purpose Mi-35M were involved in the exercises.
"The helicopters provided an operational landing of a motorized rifle company on a strategically advantageous line in the rear of a conditional enemy," the press service of the Southern Military District reported.
Note that the Terminator helicopters are capable of carrying up to 37 people or four tons inside the fuselage. The combat survivability of the Mi-8AMTSh is also provided by screen-exhaust devices and installations for shooting heat traps. In addition, the pivot installations for small arms in the doors and the aft PKT machine gun allow firing from both sides and the rear hemisphere of the helicopter. And the Mi-35M attack and transport helicopters, in addition to fire support, can carry eight paratroopers with full weapons.
Simultaneously with the landing, the main forces of the battalion tactical group struck the enemy. T-72B3 tanks, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, multiple rocket launchers and artillery guns were involved in the battle.
Bilateral battalion and regimental tactical exercises are held simultaneously at four training grounds - in the Rostov region, South Ossetia, Chechnya and in the Crimea. They involve about 10,000 military personnel, 800 weapons and more than 40 aircraft and helicopters.
