The Russian complex of active protection (KAZ) of armored vehicles "Arena-M" can repel an attack from any direction. The system received a modern radar and maneuverable ammunition for destroying an attacking projectile. The features of the complex were revealed by the head of the development and design department of the Kolomna KBM, Vladimir Kharkiv, on the air of the Zvezda TV channel.
Protective ammunition of the Arena-M complex can be deployed to meet the threat after firing. Thanks to pulse engines, ammunition is deployed in the shortest possible time, the designer stressed. This allows you to provide a circular defense of the tank.
Arena-M operates in automatic mode. The radar of the active protection complex records missile launches in the direction of the car. When an attacking munition is detected, two protective shells are launched and detonated, which are stored in protected boxes. A directed stream of fragments destroys the attacking missile.
Earlier, the industrial director of the arms complex of the Rostec state Corporation, Bekhan Ozdoev, said that the Arena-M can intercept all modern anti-tank guided missiles. In particular, the Russian KAZ can destroy FGM-148 Javelin and Spike missiles that attack armored vehicles in the weakly protected upper hemisphere.
