The Syrian combat experience will be the basis for the actions of the Russian engineering troops at the international exercises of the military contingents of the SCO member states "Peace Mission-2021", which are taking place in the Orenburg region. This was announced to journalists on Tuesday by the head of the engineering troops of the Central Military District (CVO), Major General Dmitry Koruts.
"The experience of modern armed conflicts, primarily in the Syrian Arab Republic and Nagorno-Karabakh, will be the basis for practical actions of the engineering units of the Central Military District at the "Peace Mission - 2021"exercise. So, throughout the final stage, air and ground mobile detachments of the barrier will be used to ensure the actions of the coalition group of troops," he said.
As part of the air detachments, Mi-8 transport and combat helicopters with VSM-1 mining systems will be involved, which will make it possible to install mine-explosive barriers at designated borders in a short time. Tracked minelayers of modern modification GMZ-3 will also be used.
"For an unhindered high-speed advance of the combat formations of the coalition group of troops, an organized entry into battle, we will use a mobility support unit as part of the engineering assault department on armored personnel carriers BTR-82, equipped in protective suits of the OVR-3, engineering barrier vehicles IMR-3, mine clearance units UR-77, sets of heavy mechanized bridges," said the head of the engineering troops of the Central Military District.
He added that the servicemen will also work out the creation of an anti-tank ditch with an explosive method with a length of 2 thousand meters, for the device of which about 20 tons of explosives in TNT equivalent will be used.
The exercises "Peace Mission-2021" are held on September 20-24 at the Donguz training ground in the Orenburg region. About 5.5 thousand servicemen and more than 1.2 thousand units of weapons, military and special equipment are involved in practical actions.
