MOSCOW, 20 Sep-RIA Novosti. The exercises of the Russian Navy, which involve about 20 warships and submarines, began in the Black Sea, said the head of the information support department of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, Captain of the second rank Alexey Rulev.
"About 20 surface ships and support vessels of the Black Sea Fleet went to sea from their bases in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk to conduct joint exercises with missile and artillery firing. The output of ships to sea ranges is carried out in accordance with the action plan for the combat training of the Black Sea Fleet for the 2021 academic year," he said.
The exercises involve missile, anti-submarine ships, submarines, fleet minesweeping forces, auxiliary and rescue vessels, aircraft and helicopters of Naval aviation and air defense of the Black Sea Fleet.
At the initial stage of the exercises, the sailors worked out the exit of ships from their bases with forcing a mined area along a pre-drilled strip, joint navigation and maneuvering in various formations and orders when passing areas of intensive navigation.
"The crews of the ships will perform rocket and artillery firing as part of diverse tactical groups, conduct a complex of exercises on trawling, conducting naval combat, searching and destroying a submarine, detecting and striking a coastal command post, as well as repelling an attack by air attack means of a conditional enemy," Rulev said.
In addition, aircraft and helicopters from the naval aviation and air defense of the Black Sea Fleet are involved in the exercises of the ship's forces. The course of the maneuvers will be monitored with the help of drones.
