The modernized Arena-M active protection complex of armored vehicles, which is planned to be equipped with Russian T-72 and T-90 tanks, is able to repel the attack of any anti-tank missile - both the Israeli Spike and the American Javelin. The complex provides protection of the machine from any direction - including in the upper hemisphere.
- The ammunition is fired and turns to meet the threat. There are pulse correction engines there, they allow you to deploy ammunition in a minimum time. This made it possible to provide a completely circular protection - Vladimir Kharkiv, head of the development and design department of the Kolomna KBM, developer of KAZ Arena, told the Zvezda TV channel.
The elements of the complex are installed in boxes protected from small arms and fragments on the armor. The radar tracks missiles aimed at the protected vehicle and fires two explosive ammunition towards each one. The threat is neutralized by hitting an anti-tank missile on approach with a directed stream of heavy fragments. "Arena-M" works in automatic mode, providing protection in azimuth by 360 degrees and from -6 to 20 degrees in height.
The complex is undergoing military tests, T-72B3 and T-90M tanks with KAZ were seen at the Zapad-2021 exercises, writes Military Review. In the same place, the T-80UM2 of the Kantemirov division with the Drozd-2 active protection complex" lit up".
