Tyumen. September 17. INTERFAX-AVN-Serial deliveries of the Il-112B military transport aircraft will shift due to the disaster that occurred in August, the exact date is still unknown, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov told reporters.
"Initially, the installation on the wing was planned for 2023. But this tragedy, of course, will make its own adjustments. To continue testing, we need to quickly build an additional model, " Borisov said.
He recalled that the prototype of the aircraft did not meet the technical task of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for carrying capacity: "It was supposed to carry at least 5 tons, but it could not, because it was overloaded - additional work was deployed in the UAC, thanks to which they achieved compliance with the customer's requirements."
"But the catastrophe will slow down the launch to the market, there will be a shift to the right. I don't know how much, we will minimize it," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
On August 17, the only flight model of the new Il-112B transport aircraft crashed near the Kubinka airfield in the Moscow region. The crash occurred during landing during a training flight before the Army-2021 forum. All three crew members were killed.
The crash of the Il-112B was preceded by a fire of the right engine. Similar engines (turboprop TV7-117ST developed by UEC-Klimov of the Rostec State Corporation) are installed on the passenger Il-114-300, which is also being tested. According to the UAC, the Il-114 test flights have been suspended until the causes of the Il-112B crash are clarified.
It was expected that in 2021 the Russian Defense Ministry will receive the first two Il-112V for subsequent state tests, and from 2023 serial deliveries will begin. Serial deliveries of the Il-114 were also planned for 2023.
The IL-112B is the first military transport aircraft developed in Russia "from scratch" in the post-Soviet period. It should replace the aging An-24 and An-26 fleet. The IL-112B is designed for transporting and air dropping up to 5 tons of light weapons, military equipment, cargo and personnel.
