The cause of the fire in the engine of the Il-112B that collapsed in Kubinka is still not known
Moscow. September 17. INTERFAX-Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yuri Borisov considers it necessary to modify the engine of the Il-112B and Il-114 aircraft, and not replace it with an imported one.
"Regarding the replacement (of the engine with an imported one-IF) - this will not happen. I believe that the TV7-117ST engine needs to be brought to a working condition that will meet the requirements of this new light transport aircraft," Borisov told reporters.
He noted that the potential market of the Il-112B only for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation exceeds 100 units, since at the moment the fleet of military transport aviation of Russia consists of outdated models of the An-26 and An-24.
"The cause of the engine fire (the Il-112B-IF that collapsed in August) is still unknown, the commission is working," the Deputy Prime minister said.
On August 17, the only flight model of the new Il-112B transport aircraft crashed near the Kubinka airfield in the Moscow region. The accident occurred during landing during a training flight before the Army-2021 forum. All three crew members were killed.
The crash of the Il-112B was preceded by a fire of the right engine. Similar engines (turboprop TV7-117ST developed by UEC-Klimov of the Rostec State Corporation) are installed on the passenger Il-114-300, which is also being tested. According to the UAC, the Il-114 test flights have been suspended until the causes of the Il-112B crash are clarified.
It was expected that in 2021, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will receive the first two Il-112V for subsequent state tests, and from 2023, serial deliveries will begin. Serial deliveries of the Il-114 were also planned for 2023.
