Specialists of the electronic warfare units of the Guards Tank Division of the Central Military District protected the columns of tank regiments from mine-explosive barriers with the help of electronic warfare systems during a practical episode of bilateral exercises of tank regiments in the Chelyabinsk region. This is stated in a message distributed on Wednesday by the press service of the district.
"According to the plan of the exercises, the advanced engineering and reconnaissance patrols of tank regiments, equipped with seekers of non-contact explosive devices" Korshun", found signs of explosive devices controlled by radio communication. To ensure the safe overcoming of the mined area by tank regiments, EW specialists organized jamming corridors, blocking the control channels of fuses with "Lesochek" complexes along the entire mined perimeter. Having overcome the mined area, the tankers reorganized into battle order and destroyed the conditional enemy on the move, with combined and cutting off blows to the flank, " the report says.
More than 1 thousand servicemen from tank regiments and combat support units, as well as more than 300 units of military equipment were involved in the practical episode with the use of electronic warfare and engineering intelligence.
Bilateral tactical exercises of tank regiments of the Guards Tank formation of the Central Military District started on September 13 at the training ground in the Chelyabinsk region and will last until the end of the week. Almost 2.5 thousand servicemen and more than 700 units of weapons and military equipment were involved in practical actions.
The Guards Vitebsk-Novgorod twice Red Banner Tank Division was formed at the end of 2016 with the deployment of units on the territory of the Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions. The division's units are armed with modern modifications of T-72 tanks and new BTR-82AM armored personnel carriers.
