The cruisers of the Northern Fleet "Peter the Great" and "Marshal Ustinov" fired cruise missiles at a target position in the Barents Sea, depicting a detachment of landing ships of a conditional enemy. The press service of the fleet published a video of the launch of the Vulkan missile defense system from the Marshal Ustinov.
The means of objective control recorded the defeat of the target. The shooting area was previously closed to civilian shipping and aviation flights by the forces of the Kola Flotilla of heterogeneous forces.
- The missile firing was the final episode of the exercise of the SF cruisers in the Barents Sea. After its implementation, the fleet forces went to the permanent bases, " the press service of the Northern Fleet told.
The P-1000 Vulkan anti-ship complex is the main weapon of the Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser. After installing heat-resistant launch containers on the ship, it became possible to use launch boosters (their flames are clearly visible on the video), which increased the firing range from 700 to 1000 kilometers.
The Vulcan missiles are heading for the target at a speed of Mach 2 and a low altitude, hiding from radars. The homing head uses target recognition and distribution algorithms created for the P-700 Granit complex. "Volcanoes" also know how to attack a pack from different sides.
The 11-meter rocket of the complex is equipped with a high-explosive cumulative warhead weighing half a ton or a nuclear warhead with a capacity of 350 kilotons.
