Russian combat robots will protect strategic objects. Autonomy and advanced optical devices will allow monitoring at any time of the day. This is reported by Izvestia, citing sources in the Russian Defense Ministry.
The source revealed the tasks of Russian combat robots. The Defense Ministry has decided on additional purchases of Nerekhta robotic complexes. Robots that are already used in the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces) will receive new tasks for the protection of important objects, - Izvestia reports.
The Nerekhta robots were first used in combat formations during the Zapad-2021 exercises at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The vehicles were used for reconnaissance and fire support. During the exercises, the robots received a combat module with an automatic grenade launcher AG-30M and a large-caliber machine gun "Cord".
The Defense Ministry added that the Nerekhta can deliver equipment and ammunition, as well as adjust the fire. There are several modifications of the robot designed for reconnaissance, cargo transportation and fire support. The machine can take on board up to 500 kilograms of payload. Electric motors provide the maximum speed of the robot up to 32 kilometers per hour. "Nerekhta" refers to remote-controlled complexes — the machine can not independently select targets and open fire.
The strategic exercises of Russia and Belarus "West-2021" are held at 14 training grounds and in the waters of the Baltic Sea. Earlier it was reported that up to 760 units of military equipment and over 80 aircraft and helicopters will be involved in the maneuvers.
