Moscow. September 14. INTERFAX-AVN-Servicemen of the Arctic motorized rifle brigade of the Northern Fleet (SF) have worked out a set of tasks for the defense of the territory of Russia in the conditions of the Far North and the Arctic, the press service of the SF reported on Tuesday.
"The application of a massive artillery strike on armored vehicles and manpower of the advancing" enemy "from self-propelled artillery installations" Gvozdika "and mortars has been worked out," the report says.
It is noted that the exercise with live firing of Arctic motorized rifle units took place at a military training ground in the Kandalaksha district of the Murmansk region.
"The servicemen worked out actions on the engineering equipment of positions, fortifications, camouflage and organization of interaction on the battlefield. Special attention was paid to conducting reconnaissance using unmanned aircraft and organizing maneuverable defense, " the SF reported.
According to the navy, more than 1,000 military personnel and more than 150 units of military equipment and weapons were involved in the exercise.
Exercises with the Arctic expeditionary group of the Northern Fleet are held under the leadership of the Commander of the Northern Fleet at the training grounds of the Murmansk Region, in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, the Laptev Sea near the Novosibirsk Islands, the Franz Josef Land archipelago.
Up to 8 thousand military personnel, about 800 units of combat and special equipment, including about 40 tanks, 460 armored combat vehicles, up to 240 guns, mortars and multiple rocket launchers, about 120 aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles, up to 50 ships and support vessels, are involved in the exercise.
