The MULINO LANDFILL (Nizhny Novgorod region), 13 Sep-RIA Novosti. Engineering troops undermined a multi-row fire shaft with a length of 1.5 kilometers, disrupting the approach of the reserves of the conditional enemy during the episode of the Zapad-2021 exercise at the Nizhny Novgorod Mulino training ground.
"The peculiarity of the use of the fire shaft was its simultaneous detonation at once along three lines. The detonation of fire mines and an artificially created burning mass of incendiary means prevented the effective use of equipment, communication and control equipment of the advanced reserves of the conditional enemy, and also demoralized his manpower," the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters on Monday.
Further, in order to slow down the advance of the conditional enemy and change the attack vector, the military carried out an explosion of an anti-tank ditch with a length of up to one kilometer.
In turn, the conditional enemy used booby-trapped cars to break through the defense of the units of the coalition group of troops.
Booby-trapped vehicles armed with heavy machine guns, recoilless guns and anti-tank missiles are characterized by high speed and maneuverability, allowing them to effectively destroy tanks and infantry fighting vehicles in close combat.
In this regard, the main task is to keep them at a safe distance, for this purpose various fortifications are created on their way, and mine-explosive barriers are installed in the most dangerous directions.
