For the first time, the military tested a new method of joint use of the engineering reconnaissance and fire complex "Agriculture" and mobile groups of heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepek" during the draw of the main stage of practical actions of the joint strategic exercises "West-2021" at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
"Two mobile groups consisting of ten combat vehicles of the heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A "Solntsepek" were involved in inflicting fire damage to the advancing "enemy", which, by simultaneously detonating unguided rockets in thermobaric equipment and a minefield remotely installed by the engineering reconnaissance and strike complex "Agriculture" on the way of the columns of the advancing "enemy", created a high-temperature fire field and excessive pressure in the center of defeat, which caused maximum damage to the conditional enemy and stopped its advance" - the Russian Defense Ministry told reporters on Monday.
The TOS-1A "Solntsepek" heavy flamethrower system is designed for fire support of infantry and tanks, destruction of enemy manpower, open and closed firing positions in various types of offensive and defensive combat, as well as for disabling lightly armored vehicles and vehicles.
"Agriculture" is built on the principle of multiple launch rocket systems, however, solid fuel-powered ammunition filled with various types of mines is used for mining. The remote method of installing minefields has a number of advantages. In particular, it is distinguished by the speed of setting minefields, especially in hard-to-reach areas. At the same time, the ability of mines to deactivate or self-destruct at a given time ensures safe and rapid clearance after the cessation of hostilities.
Strategic exercises "West-2021"
Strategic exercises of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus are held every two years. Zapad-2021 is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the two countries this year. The practical actions of the troops (forces) take place from September 10 to 16, 2021 at nine training grounds located on the territory of the Russian Federation, in the Baltic Sea, as well as at five training grounds of the Armed Forces of Belarus.
In total, up to 200 thousand personnel, about 80 aircraft and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment, including 290 tanks, 240 guns, multiple rocket launchers and mortars, as well as up to 15 ships are involved in the exercises.
The maximum number of personnel involved in the exercises of military units subject to the Vienna Document of 2011 in the territory of the Russian Federation does not exceed 6,400 military personnel. The return of the military authorities and troops to the points of permanent deployment after participating in the exercises is planned until mid-October.
