The Mi-35 and Mi-24 helicopters of the Army aviation of the Western Military District provided cover for the practical actions of the ground forces within the framework of the Zapad-2021 exercise, using the "helicopter carousel" tactics.
This was reported in the press service of the Western Military District.
"In order to provide fire support to the advancing units, the crews of the army aviation helicopters of the Far Eastern Military District practiced air strikes on manpower, armored vehicles and objects of a conditional enemy using the helicopter carousel method," the press service noted.
The strikes were carried out with anti-tank missiles "Shturm-V", "Ataka-M", unguided air-to-surface missiles of the S-8 class and standard aviation weapons.
The flights were carried out at low and extremely low altitudes, including using natural natural shelters, not allowing the conditional enemy to detect itself and strike the helicopters first. The pilots actively applied the combat experience gained in Syria.
