The military of the Baltic Fleet, as part of the joint exercises of the land forces of Russia and Belarus "West-2021", organized the defense of the sea coast and an operation for landing a marine landing with the involvement of the Northern Fleet marines. This was announced on Sunday, September 12, by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The military events took place on the territory of the Khmelevka training ground, located in the Kaliningrad region. The crews of large amphibious ships, units of the BF and SF marines and marines of the last fleet were involved in the exercises.
The idea of the exercises and the conditional scenario implied the capture of a bridgehead and ensuring the landing of amphibious equipment in order to develop an offensive deep into the unexplored territory. Unfamiliar lands, according to the plan of the exercises, were defended by the infantry of the BF.
Before landing, a detachment of ships carried out a fire attack on the coast, which made it possible to suppress long-term firing positions. The landing took place with the support of Su-30SM fighters and Su-24 BF bombers.
Mine clearance of coastal areas was carried out by military engineers who were delivered to their destinations on high-speed boats. The ships "Korolev", "Minsk", "Kaliningrad" and "Olenegorsky Miner"took part in the direct landing of the troops.
On the territory of the naval training ground, the marines of the SF worked out the tasks of undermining the anti-amphibious defense of a conditional enemy from the sea, as well as striking at the defending forces.
The exercises were held under the supervision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. 10 surface warships, boats and vessels, up to 10 aircraft and helicopters of the BF aviation, more than 200 units of military equipment and about 2 thousand military personnel took part in the event from both sides.
On the eve of September 11, during joint exercises, the military for the first time used Platform-M combat robots, which were used to conduct reconnaissance and make passages in minefields.
The Zapad-2021 exercise is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation this year.
In total, up to 200 thousand personnel, about 80 aircraft and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment, including 290 tanks, 240 guns, multiple rocket launchers and mortars, as well as up to 15 ships take part in the joint exercises "West-2021" on the territory of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
