The enemy is destroyed.
The crews of the army aviation of the Leningrad Army of the Air Force and Air Defense used the technique of destroying armored vehicles of a conditional enemy from ambushes during the regrouping of troops at the Luzhsky training ground in the Leningrad region as part of the joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus "West-2021".
The new technology allows helicopters to effectively solve reconnaissance and strike tasks in the operational and tactical zone of application of a joint group of troops to defeat highly mobile enemy equipment. When using such a fire strike technique, helicopter pairs are placed on camouflaged sites in forest areas. When a conditional enemy breaks through, they take off from cover and hit targets with rocket and cannon weapons.
Pilots of multi-purpose helicopters Mi-8, Mi-28N "Night Hunter", and Ka-52 "Alligator" make approaches to the object of the "enemy" because of natural shelters and woodlands, the crew uses rocket and cannon weapons at a distance of 500 meters to 5 km, including from extremely low altitudes. Immediately after the defeat of the target, under the cover of the following sides, they again break down behind shelters.
The exercise involves army aviation helicopters, military personnel of the flight and engineering personnel of the Western Military District.
The Zapad-2021 exercise is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation this year.
The practical actions of the troops (forces) take place in the period from 10 to 16 September 2021 at nine training grounds located on the territory of the Russian Federation, in the Baltic Sea, as well as at five training grounds of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus.
